Abstract

Invitation: Dear reader, thank you for your interest in the first editorial of the Medical Journal of Virtual Sciences. Herein we inform you about this journal. We want to publish and distribute articles which are based upon the natural laws and focus on virtual content and application of practical use in medicine and human life. The journal itself includes new innovative technologic methods of peer reviewed open access, scientific journals.

Goal: To establish an innovative open access journal, to distribute and promote research and sciences of virtual issues in medicine and human life.

Background: Human intelligence is the mandatory requirement to diagnose and successfully treat diseases. Artificial intelligence (AI) is defined the transfer of human intelligence to non-human or only partly biological machines. AI started with ‘entrance issues’ (how to construct useful intelligent machines?) and innovative sciences which were involved in ’solely inside and input / output related virtual performance conditions’ (how do these virtual systems behave, develop and react?).

Implementation: Open source algorithms and programs form the framework of the Medical Journal of Virtual Science. In addition, several specific features are implemented. These include electronic specific features of communication, such as movie files, interactive (Chat-like) discussion of whole slide images (virtual slides) and ‘chain – like’ publication of articles, chapters, or sentences (similar to ‘letter to the author / editor’).

Future features: They will include automated periodic ‘update’ of the references of a published article, automated analysis of the article’s statistics including  information of the authors, and automated completely non-biased review procedures of submitted articles.

Business model: The journal is created and run by colleagues who work on a voluntary basis only and who are interested in development and impact of virtual intelligent medical systems. It does not depend upon market strategies and profit models of any of the commercially based publication players.
